The Journey

The Journey
Approximately 9996km. WOW. That's a lot of k's. Update 24th June 2012 bit of a miscalculation - we actually travelled 17154 kilometres. Now that really is a lot of k's.

Middle Lagoon

Middle Lagoon
Well it is probably time for me to have some input into the blog and what better place to write about than Middle Lagoon. We absolutely loved our time there and did not want to leave. On most mornings Naomi and I were kept busy doing jobs around the camp ground. Naomi helped clean the five beach bungalows and I was fixing broken down land cruisers and other bits and pieces that needed attention.
The campground was very nice and clean and we had an awesome little spot under some shady trees overlooking the beach. The kids had a great time climbing trees and playing with their home made bow and arrows when we weren't out on the beach.
Beautiful Water
The fishing at Middle Lagoon was better than any where else we have fished in WA with lots of big fish caught. The first few days were a little quiet but things improved as the week progressed. Naomi landed another big Trevally which proved a challenge on the light gear she was using and also managed to destroy one of my lures. Lily and I had a nice afternoon fish and she caught her biggest fish to date which was a 1.1 metre Spanish Mackerel that she landed all by herself.
Cruisin Middle Lagoon in the boat

On the last day I met a young guy who happened to be a sales rep for a large fishing tackle company and needless to say I had him out on the boat with me that afternoon. In that afternoon we had an absolute ball catching heaps of large trevally and mackerel that were feeding on huge bait balls on the surface of the water.
After a bit of a slow pack up we headed into Broome for a quick re stock and then onto derby to begin our Gibb River Road adventure.
