The Cattle at Myall's Bore |
We headed off this morning to see the sights of
Derby. There isn't many
of them so today was very cruisey. We didn't get much past Myall's Bore and
Cattle Trough south of town. The cattle trough is 120 metres long and the kids
spent a good hour creating boats from rubbish laying about the place and having
boat races. The breeze helped to push their boats along and they had an
absolute blast cheering their boats on as they walked along side them. A quick
stop at the Prison Boab Tree and it was back to the cattle trough for some more
rubbish boat racing. We stopped in at the information centre to find out about
the
Kalumburu Road.
It was open and the ladies advised us against going up there. The guy at the
camping store told us some interesting stories about recent travels on the
Kalumburu Road so
we rang
Kalumburu & McGowans
Island directly and were
informed that the road was rough but do-able with a trailer. We wandered into
Woolworths to get stocked up for the next two to three weeks, knowing that
supplies would be difficult to come by and even if we could get them, they
would be super expensive. Down to the jetty again for the afternoon and a feed
of calamari from the little take away/restaurant there.
