AN UNEXPECTED DAY

We left home at 3.47 this morning and had a good run to our regular morning stop at Home Hill. On Chris' "walk around" (car & camper trailer inspection which happens every time we get out of the car) it was discovered the camper trailers suspension was pretty much non existant. We had changed the leaf springs after our Cape York trip back in 2009 when we had a similar problem.

So it was off to Townsville to get some new leaf springs. Turns out the mounts for the springs were in the incorrect position and that's why we had two lots of springs fail since 2008. We left the camper at the trailer place at 10am and spent the day around Townsville shopping, swimming and walking around The Strand.

The camper trailer was hooked up at 4pm and we made our way to Charters Towers. We were actually incredibly lucky to discover the problem when we did and be close enough to a major town which could do the job the same day. A large sum of money later, we know that we should never have any suspension issues again.
