Early Morning on the Barkly |
4th April 2012
2360km's to date 827km today
After a night under the rather large moon, we were on our way again. Our camp beside the Georgina River surrounded by only bush and hundreds of white cockatoos was quick and easy. After Camooweal, the Flinders Highway becomes the Barkly Highway as we enter the Northern Territory. 130 kilometre speed limit starts, not that we go that fast as this section of road is know for drinking loads of fuel. Thanks to some advice of the members of the Pajero Club Forum, towing in fourth gear and sticking to 100 makes a world of difference. We did end up needing to top up with a jerry can and even had to help some fellow travellers who had been caught out by giving them our second jerry can. A stop at Three Ways Roadhouse at the junction of the Barkly and Stuart Highways, saw us all fuelled up again and on the road again.Three Ways Roadhouse Northern territory |

We camped at Daly Waters Highway Inn. There were some very friendly ducks that the kids loved playing with and a swimming pool wich was a great chance to cool off. We had a great dinner of barra burgers and various forms of steak. When in cattle and barra country, eat beef and barra.
