The Journey

The Journey
Approximately 9996km. WOW. That's a lot of k's. Update 24th June 2012 bit of a miscalculation - we actually travelled 17154 kilometres. Now that really is a lot of k's.

Kununurra

Lake Argyle
The Ord River below the dam wall
We spent our first morning in Kununurra catching up on things. Washing and organising. We even managed a sleep in. It was great knowing that we didn't have to pack up after only one night so we took full advantage and moved very slowly. Taking our time meant that by the time we arrived at Lake Argyle, we had missed the mornings cruises and would have to wait five or so hours for the next one. After a quick look around, we left Lake Argyle and stopped at the bridge that crosses the Ord River for a swim.

After a rest back at the caravan park, we went to check out The Zebra Rock Gallery. The artisans here create some amazing pieces of artwork out of red and white striped rock that they mine from Lake Argyle when the water levels are low. The Zebra Rock Gallery is on the Ord River and the kids had a blast feeding the catfish, sooty grunter and archer fish.

The Ord River
We may have missed out on a cruise on Lake Argyle, but we ended up having our very own private cruise on the Ord River - Lake Kununurra above the Diversion Dam at sunset.
